How we work

How we work

Most consultancy dissatisfaction is not about capability. It is about shape: junior teams behind senior salespeople, engagements that metastasise, deliverables that require their authors to interpret them. We have designed our practice against each of those, deliberately.

Principles

Five principles.

01

Seniority only

The people who scope your engagement deliver it. Meganoesis has no leverage pyramid and no bench of juniors to keep utilised. You buy veterans; veterans arrive.

02

Fixed shape, stated outcome

Engagements begin with a written statement of the question we are answering, the deliverable that answers it, and the timescale. Where discovery changes the question – as it sometimes honestly does – we say so and re-contract in the open, rather than drifting.

03

Deliverables that stand alone

Every report and design is written to be acted on without us in the room: the answer first, the reasoning at the depth needed to audit it, the risks ranked by what would actually change your decision. What we know, what we were told, and what we assumed are labelled as such, always.

04

Candour as a term of engagement

You will hear our actual view, including when it is unwelcome, including when it shortens the engagement. We regard telling clients what they hoped to hear as a form of defect.

05

No adjacent interests

Meganoesis is purely an advisory and architecture practice. We do not build systems, operate them, resell software, take vendor commissions, or position for downstream delivery work – which is precisely why our judgement about all of those things can be trusted. When we recommend a technology or a course of action, the recommendation is the entire transaction.

Engagement models

Four shapes, stated up front.

Fixed-shape review or design

A defined question, a defined deliverable, typically two to six weeks. The standard shape for healthchecks, audits, and architecture reviews.

Embedded leadership

A Meganoesis veteran in an interim chief architect, design authority, or technical leadership seat, with a defined mandate and exit criteria stated at the start.

Advisory retainer

A named senior adviser, available to your executives and architects on a standing basis, for organisations that want judgement on tap rather than projects.

Bid sprint

Rapid mobilisation into a live bid, under your confidentiality regime, for the duration of the pursuit.

The practical matters

We operate under mutual NDA as a default, not an exception. Client materials remain client property; our working papers are disclosed where the engagement requires it. We are experienced in conflict-walled and clean-room arrangements, and in the confidentiality demands of transaction and bid environments. Commercially, we favour fixed fees for fixed shapes and simple time-based arrangements for embedded and retainer work – and we will tell you when an engagement should end.

Discuss an engagement.
